ELECTION ADDRESS FOR GENERAL SYNOD, of Harry Wilsenach, for consideration to be elected to
become a member of the GENERAL SYNOD:

Born in South Africa, and British citizens, both my wife and I, are full-heartedly members of our
local Anglican church of St Michael & All Angels, Isel, in the parish of Binsey.

I was brought up in a Christian home, and was nourished on stories from the Bible by my mother,
from my earliest youth. By the time I was 9 years old I decided to follow Jesus and never stopped!

I, throughout my life, have been, and still is, a student of the Bible. And throughout most of my
adult life, have been, either part of a prayer and Bible study group, or have led a prayer and Bible
study group – a practice I have never stopped (I am still, to this day, leading a prayer and Bible
study group).

I, in the intervening years, became a lawyer by trade and a farmer by heart (both my grandfathers
were farmers and so was my father, a part time farmer). At the “tender age” of fifty I retired from
my law practice to become a full time farmer, fulfilling a heart’s desire.

I, as a matter of principle, do not get involved in Church politics – for me, Church is about
following our Lord Jesus, supporting the Church, and praying for Church leadership. Having been
both a lawyer and a Bible student, I approach all issues, facing the Church today, from a Biblical
perspective, clinically, and without any personal bias. My motto: - “I have no opinion of my own -
only the Lord’s opinion”.

I am now fully retired, with time on my hands to be part of meaningful work in the Kingdom of
God.
