Introduction
I worship at All Saints Lindfield in the Diocese of Chichester, where I serve
on the PCC, represent the parish at Deanery Synod, and play bass in the
music team. Since retiring, I have been able to devote more time to church
life, gospel work, and sharing the Word of God through Good News for
Everyone. Although I am no longer in London every day, I remain closely
connected to the midweek lunchtime service at St Helens Bishopsgate,
whose ministry has shaped my convictions for many years.
I was born in London, grew up in Sussex, and now live in Lindfield with my
wife. I enjoy running, spending time with family and friends, and embracing
life as a grandfather. Music, travel, and reading continue to inspire me and
keep me active and curious.
My professional life began in 1980 in the City of London, working in
reinsurance at Lloyd’s of London. It was during this period that I first
attended St Helens Bishopsgate, where clear and faithful Bible teaching
shaped my conviction that Scripture has one true meaning that is found in
the text itself. My career took me from London to Zurich, managing
complex risk, building trusted relationships, and working across markets
and cultures throughout the world. Reinsurance reduces the impact of
major claims for insurance companies and helps protect people,
businesses, assets, the environment and sometimes entire countries.

Belief and Commitment
My Christian faith began in childhood through the gracious work of the Holy
Spirit. I cannot point to a single moment of conversion, but I have always
known myself to belong to Christ, believing, loving Him, and wanting to
serve Him. God truly transformed my heart through His grace and the
blessing of a Christian family upbringing. I was raised in the Methodist
Church and became an accredited lay preacher in 1983, serving until 1995
and continuing to preach in village churches for many years. Over time I
have worshipped and served in local congregations, and for the past
twenty years All Saints Lindfield has been my home.
I believe the church glorifies God by building up believers and proclaiming
the gospel throughout the world. I am committed to helping ensure that the
Church of England stands on a sustainable foundation that enables it to
continue serving our nation through evangelism, mission, and
revitalisation. This includes thoughtful and biblical engagement with the
issues facing both the church and wider society, including ethics,
education, safeguarding, social concerns, and significant national and
international developments.
Retirement has given me the capacity to offer my experience, convictions,
time, and energy to the wider church. I want to support its mission by
encouraging biblical faithfulness, clarity in the gospel, strong local church
witness, and confident proclamation of the Word of God. My aim is to serve
with grace and prayerfulness, bringing practical experience, discernment,
and a commitment to Christ centred service and unity within the church.
As I offer myself for this responsibility, I would be grateful for your support
and for your vote. My hope is simply to serve the wider church with
faithfulness, clarity, and a desire to strengthen our shared witness to
