“For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts
to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. But
we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God
and not from us.” 2 Corinthians 6&7.

Christ in me
I have accepted Christ as my saviour in my late teens through the UESI during my
bachelor’s degree, and God has been faithful in His love to me ever since. I had to take a
clear stand as a Christian having to say no to practices that were in opposition to the
Christian principles. This meant both direct and indirect persecution and discrimination
from my superiors and peers alike. However, God through His faithfulness strengthened
me and enabled me to grow in His love. Very good Christian mentors and prayer
fellowship at the University grounded me in Bible reading, meditation and prayer life.
Outreach activities as part of our Church youth fellowship engraved in me the
importance of mission.

My Christian walk in the UK
Since moving to London for my PhD and to various employments across England, I was
able to find good churches and benefitted from supportive fellowship. Having joined All
Saints Hoole in 2008, my faith has been tremendously strengthened through listening to
the sermons grounded in mission practices from the vicar and other readers with
international missionary experience. Their role models greatly inspired me to evaluate
my own life in the light of the word. Having served as the PCC member for three terms, I
understand the operational and practical issues that need making decisions.

What I bring to the General Synod
Having a long experience in the secular world, especially working with University
students, where I had to demonstrate Christ through my work and attitude, I bring a
unique understanding of youth culture.
Also, having been teaching Leadership at Masters’ level, and managed projects with
industries and other academic partners for a number of years, I have developed the
ability to see the bigger picture view and the skill to work with people with different
personalities and from various backgrounds.
Having built and sustained several networks of international partnership, I have
demonstrated the ability to bring people together to work with a common goal. I also
bring creative thinking and the ability to critically evaluate ideas.
Serving as the elected Chair of Women in Engineering affinity group for the UK and
Ireland Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (my professional society), I
have demonstrated the ability to bring people together for a common vision, and
develop others to leadership positions through a range of activities. My strength is
seeing the potential in others and design activities for cooperative and collaborative
work.
Finally, I would like to see God’s Kingdom come in the lives of people through the work
of the Diocese, and the churches to be the shining lights to lead people to Christ. So, I
am keen to serve God in this capacity so my experience and skills could be of use in
bringing God to the society.
