Election Address
A cradle Anglican with experience of the Anglican Church, the Episcopal Church in Scotland and the Episcopal Church in America, I have been a Reader in my Chaplaincy for two years.
I served on the Scottish Episcopal Synod until I left Scotland and found it to be an efficient system
I have experience of working as a team member and a team leader, in both church life and business. I have worked with the homeless and disadvantaged, and with illegal immigrants in the USA.
I am concerned that the church is not attracting as many of the people who claim to be accepting of the spiritual life, but feel they can “Go it alone.” I see a need for an outreach towards these people who are “Wandering in the wilderness” and to bring them home.
I am now retired; in my working life I was a Civil Engineer, a career I gave up when I got married as I didn’t want to work away from home and my family. I am widowed, and have plenty of time to put to God’s work.
If elected, I would work hard for the expansion of ministry, the unity of the church and to fight prejudice in all walks of life.
My life experience has given me a wide outlook and understanding of many of society’s troubles, and I feel certain that I would be able to offer much to the General Synod.
