2026 GENERAL SYNOD ELECTION ADRESS
It is my sincere prayer that the Lord may guide all of us in our discerning to be worthy and fruitful for the coming of the kingdom, Amen.

Dear Elector,
I am writing to ask for your vote in the upcoming elections of the General Synod. I am a 23 year old Turkish student from Istanbul and a convert to Christianity. I discovered God's love in Christ after a long period of search for the truth. I wish to walk with Him wherever He guides and intends to utilize me. In a time of great change and debate for the future of the church, I am fully committed to representing and understanding all the unique viewpoints across our vast and diverse diocese. I would like to ensure transparent, ongoing communication with all of you throughout these next five years.
I am glad and humbled to be given this chance at representing our Diocese in the upcoming period. I am aware of the great responsibility that this role carries. The General Synod with all its houses and diverse traditions is instrumental to help nurture the spiritual health and vigour of the church. Therefore it has been important for me to contemplate and discern before taking this decision. I simply ask of you to do the same when voting.
My hope is for a united and inclusive church in which we can live out our common faith in and through God's love for everybody. Welcoming people of diverse backgrounds and becoming their voice in the Synod especially for those who are non-English and are in Europe within the context of the wider Church of England.
WHY VOTE FOR ME?
I dedicate my time to understanding the needs and expectations of the youth and ways to establish outreach to the youth. As a young person myself, I believe I can relate to today's youth in a more personal way. And I believe our youth to be the future of the church. I believe it is particularly important to live out our faith in love and holiness in accordance with the needs of this day and age.
I desire to speak for our Diocese in a way that can allow the flourishing of our chaplaincies with a greater emphasis on usage of the local languages with liturgical and catechical translations. I would like to advocate for reduction in obligations demanded from the chaplaincies which are barely keeping themselves afloat for financial relief and for the easier upkeep of existing churches.
I value and wish to promote further ecumenical dialogue with the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. It is my vision that the Diocese in Europe can one day evolve into something greater than what it is in its current scope and develop a vision for the future. I observe in the Anglican faith in Europe a unique accomodating quality which has great potential for further growth. I have been involved with and experienced distinctive traditions in the life of the church before and I wish to help contribute to their mutual flourishing. If I am elected, it would also be helpful to have an encompassing and catholic representation of our entire diocese with the addition of a member from Istanbul.
LIFE IN THE CHURCH
I serve in the altar in my local chaplaincy, I host bible studies, catechize new members from the youth and have recently been enrolled in the Ministry Experience Scheme program in our Diocese.
I will represent my chaplaincy in the Eastern Archdeaconry Synod and represented it in the previous Diocesan Synod. I visit the sick, the elderly to anoint and to give them the eucharist and have participated in volunteer work with the Roman Catholic Church in Istanbul.
