Election Address for General Synod

My name is Anesu Muyambi. I work fulltime in Further Education and
Higher Education as a Programme Manager, Engineer and Senior
Lecturer.

In the CoE Birmingham, I am a member of,

• St Georges Church and PCC in Newtown.
• Lozells and Newtown Benefice.
• Handsworth and Central Birmingham Deanery.
• Bishops’ Council.
• Diocesan Board of Education.
• Diocesan Environmental Board.

I am also,
• Diocesan Lay Chair.
• Lay Canon of the Cathedral.
• School Governor.

All these roles are voluntary and l dedicate my time and resources into fulfilling them.

Other voluntary roles l am engaged in are,
• Regional Champion -The Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer.
• Microsoft 365 Administrator- Zimbabwe National Anglican Fellowship

I am seeking election to the General Synod. I am committed to serving the Church
and contributing to its mission in an increasingly diverse society. As an ethnic
minority member of the Church, I bring both lived experience and a strong belief that
the Church is enriched when all voices are represented in its governance and
decision-making.

My faith has shaped my commitment to inclusion, justice, and service. The Church
has a vital role in fostering communities where every individual is valued, respected
and able to contribute fully. Greater representation of minority ethnic members is
important not only for equity, but also for strengthening the Church's understanding
of the communities it serves.

In my professional role as an educator, I collaborate with people from a wide range
of backgrounds and have developed skills in leadership, communication,
collaboration, and advocacy. I would bring these skills to the General Synod,
approaching discussions with integrity, humility, and a willingness to listen to diverse
perspectives.

My experiences have given me a deep appreciation of both the opportunities and
challenges involved in building truly inclusive communities. Diversity is a gift from

God and that the Church has an important role to play in fostering belonging,
understanding, and unity across different cultures, backgrounds, and generations.

My commitment to service is rooted in my faith and in my desire to see the Church
continue to grow as a welcoming, compassionate, and outward-looking community.
I am keen to contribute thoughtfully to discussions on mission, ministry, discipleship,
and the challenges facing the Church today. I would seek to listen carefully to
different viewpoints, engage respectfully in debate, and work collaboratively to find
solutions that strengthen our common life together.

I am particularly passionate about encouraging greater participation from
underrepresented groups, including ethnic minority communities, younger people,
and those who may not always feel that the Church speaks for them or understands
their experiences. I believe the Church must continue to engage meaningfully with
the diverse society in which we live while remaining faithful to its Christian calling
and values.

If elected, I will serve with humility, openness, and a commitment to representing the
views of those whom I serve. I would work to strengthen relationships across the
Church, champion inclusivity and equality, and contribute positively to shaping a
Church that reflects God's love for all people. I will seek to contribute constructively
to the work of the Synod and wider church, supporting the Church's mission,
promoting meaningful inclusion, and helping to ensure that all members feel heard
and valued.

I am committed to working with others to build a Church that reflects the diversity of
God's people and faithfully serves future generations. It would be a privilege to serve
on the General Synod and to contribute to the life and witness of the Church in this
important role.
