I bring twenty years’ professional experience of stewardship, parish
development, governance, fundraising and organisational leadership in
the church and its institutions; but my heart remains firmly with the local
church.
I love the Church of England: its breadth, its rootedness in place, its
extraordinary people and its commitment to maintaining a Christian
presence in communities across this amazing diocese and across the
country.
I want our national structures to serve that local mission: properly
resourcing our parishes, welcoming the full diversity of the communities
we serve, and releasing the gifts of all God’s people.
That is how I believe the Church of England can continue to be truly the
Church for England.
I would be honoured to receive your first-preference vote to represent
the laity of the Diocese of Leeds on General Synod.

GENEROUS RESOURCING
My work life has included Stewardship Adviser in our Diocese of Leeds,
membership of the National Stewardship Committee, leading York’s Generous
Giving Team, and parish development work through HeartEdge and Holy
Nativity, Halifax.
For over twenty years I have worked alongside parishes in different contexts
and seen the remarkable creativity, generosity and commitment of clergy and
lay people. I know what can happen when local churches are given the
resources, encouragement and freedom to respond to the communities they
know best.
When we resource our parishes well, we release the energy, imagination and
faith of the whole Church for mission.
On General Synod, I will champion investment in the parish and ensure the
voice and experience of local churches shapes national decisions.
I am a member of Inclusive Church because I believe in a Church which
celebrates and affirms every person.
My own experience of coming to faith as an adult taught me how difficult
crossing the threshold of a church can feel, and I have never forgotten what the
Church can look like to someone standing on the outside.
Our welcome must be visible in who participates, whose voices are heard and
who is trusted to lead.
On General Synod, I will champion a Church where the breadth and diversity
of God’s people is welcomed, valued and celebrated.
INCLUSIVE WELCOME
Twenty years of working with parishes across the breadth of Anglican tradition
has taught me to listen well, respect different convictions and seek common
ground.
On General Synod, I will be clear about what I believe while listening
generously to others as we work for the flourishing of all God’s people.
