Election to the Church of England
General Synod

I would like to offer myself for election to the Church of England General Synod
because I care deeply about the life, mission and future of the Church at parish,
diocesan and national level. My faith has grown through the worship, fellowship and
service of the parish church, and I believe strongly that local parish life must remain
at the heart of the Church’s witness in our communities.
I am particularly interested in how the Church can grow in confidence, welcome
new people, support children and families, and strengthen its links with schools and
wider community life. Through my experience as a governor of two schools, I have
developed a practical understanding of governance, safeguarding, accountability,
strategic planning and the importance of making decisions that serve the common
good.
Serving as a school governor has also helped me to listen carefully, work
collaboratively, ask constructive questions and deal responsibly with complex issues.
I understand the importance of meeting deadlines, reading papers carefully,
preparing for meetings and following through on decisions. These are skills I would
bring to the work of General Synod.
If elected, I would seek to be a thoughtful, prayerful and committed representative.
I would listen to clergy and lay people across the diocese, bring the concerns of
parish churches and schools into national conversations, and contribute positively to
debates about mission, education, governance and the future direction of the
Church of England.
I believe the General Synod needs members who are rooted in local church life,
aware of the challenges facing parishes and schools, and willing to serve with
patience, honesty and commitment. I would be grateful for the opportunity to bring
my experience, faith and practical skills to this important work.
