General Synod Statement
Hello, my name is Kathy Robinson.
I live in Walsall Wood and worship in the neighbouring
Aldridge parish, within the Walsall Deanery.

I became a Christian during a youth event at my local Anglican church when I was 13
years old. At 16, I saw a film about Papua New Guinea, and it was as though God wrote
it on my heart. Twenty years later, having trained at Great Ormond Street Hospital,
married, and had three sons, I finally arrived there as a missionary nurse. I worked with
Wycliffe Bible Translators for ten years. I am passionate about people having God's
Word in their mother tongue, their heart language.

Some years later, I worked for nearly ten years as a Community Children's Nurse in a
special school. There, I had the privilege of learning Makaton, which I now use as a
member of our worship group and within our additional needs ministries. I am
passionate about church being for everyone. If people cannot engage with church in the
ways we traditionally do, then we should do things differently to empower them.
Whatever the challenges, whether they cannot speak, read, sit still for long, or become
overwhelmed by sensory overload or past trauma, church is still possible.
I love Jesus and seek, by His Spirit, to grow in my faith and serve others. I believe in the
importance of prayer.

Serving Locally
• I run a group for adults with additional needs called FIZZ- Faith Is.
• I also lead a SEND Messy Church for disabled children and their families.
• We worship with smiles, flags, instruments, Makaton signing, and voices.
• I serve on both the DCC and PCC.
• I chair our Activities and Events Committee, which has organised Café Church,
social events, and Christmas Child shoebox packing parties.
• I run a house group, lead services, and preach.
• I also make coffee, hoover floors, and put out chairs.
• I actively seek to support people in their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual
needs.
Serving the Deanery
• I am a member of Walsall Deanery Synod.
• I support the Walsall Greenhouse, a group exploring the development of new
congregations.
Serving the Diocese
• I serve one of the Seeking the Kingdom boards within the Lichfield Diocese

I am offering to serve on General Synod because I believe Jesus is for everyone, and ‘I
want to speak out for those who have no voices.’ (Proverbs 31:8).
