Sebastian Brown for General Synod

Hello, I am Sebastian Brown. Thank you for
taking the time to read my election address.
About me
I am twenty-two years old, married to my lovely
wife Grace Brown, who is twenty-one and we
have a wonderful eight-month-old baby called
Edward. I was born in the Isle of Axholme (the
parish of Haxey) which is the most northern
point of the diocese, in 2004.

I came to faith when I was fifteen, and was
baptised and confirmed in my local parish
Church, St. Nicholas, Haxey by Bishop Nigel
Peyton.

I now live and work in Lincoln city, I am an
assistant manager at Gino’s restaurant, my wife is
a student at Lincoln Bishop University- alongside
being a full-time mummy to our beautiful baby
boy.

Faith is an important aspect of our family life and
we share a deep love of the Lord. He has been
particularly close to us and our Edward, from the
time of his birth and he has been our strength and
comfort as we navigated Edward’s heart condition
and subsequent open heart surgery at
two-weeks-old.

Edward was baptised on July 19th, at St. Peter’s
Eastagate, where we worship on Sundays.

My work in the Church of England
I have served on 3 PCCs in the span of 6 years: St.
Nicholas, Haxey; All Saints, Monks Road; and St.
Mary-le-Wigford. I also served as Churchwarden
of St. Mary-le-Wigford for 2 years, I needed
dispensation from the Bishop as I was the
youngest Churchwarden in the diocese. I am also
a member of Diocesan synod.

In my time as Churchwarden, I was part of many
initiatives to bring young people, especially
students, into the Church of England.

The Church of England is very important to me
and I want to continue to bring young people
and their families into the faith; I think being
elected to General Synod can help me to achieve
this and show that young people are active and
passionate.

If I was to be elected, I would advocate for more
funding for parishes, for evangelism and to keep
churches open. I would stress the importance of
supporting parishes and their PCCs, which I
know from my own experience can be difficult.
