As a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a committed Anglican it
would be an honour to serve the church as a member of General
Synod. I believe that my skills and experience will enable me to be
insightful and strategic in my contribution to the House of Laity.
I’m passionate about the mission and ministry of the Church of England. I’m a Lay Reader in Haydock.
I’m a member of St Helens Deanery Synod, a Director of the Liverpool Diocesan Board of Finance, a
member of its audit committee and of Bishop’s Council. As a member of General Synod since 2019,
re-elected 2021, I was elected as a Church Commissioner in 2023.
My wife and I live in St Helens. We pray and read the Bible daily. We have been married for 38 years
and have five adult children.
As a child, I thought all religions were fantasy and only science could save the world. Then my brother
went to study science at university and came home saying he had become a Christian. He gently
explained to me about Jesus and the Bible. Jesus has never let me down.
I work as a lawyer in a manufacturing company, protecting inventions of scientists and engineers. I
have worked as a cost estimator of capital projects for new factories and repairs. I have served on an
advisory board of a grant making body for project teams. I am an internal auditor for management
systems.
I serve as a Middle Management Representative and have experience of supporting colleagues with
employment issues. I am a leader of a Christian workplace group for employees at the company, and
engage with the company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion policy to make a difference.
The Church of England has been blessed by God, and has been a blessing to the nation, when it has
actively helped those who are marginalised and when it has not been ashamed of Christ, as revealed
in the Bible. My prayer for General Synod is not to forget the precious people of this nation and to
guard the faith handed down by the apostles.
