ELECTION ADDRESS FOR GENERAL SYNOD

Candidate: Roekh Yousaf
Parish / Fellowship: St Andrew’s CofE Multilingual Church, Warrington
Introduction & Personal Background

My name is Roekh Yousaf, and I live in Warrington. Having served faithfully in my
former parish in Liverpool, I recently moved to Warrington to help establish St
Andrew’s CofE Multilingual Church, a vibrant new church plant reaching people across English, Urdu,
Punjabi, and Hindi language backgrounds. (Further details about this church plant will be available on

I have served within the Church of England for several years and am currently moving through the
discernment process. Through parish ministry, church planting, and community engagement, I have
witnessed both the immense richness of our diversity and the urgent need for stronger representation
of Global Majority Heritage (GMH) and UK Minority Ethnic (UKME) communities at every level of our
Church.

Why I Am Standing
Currently, no candidate from the Pakistani or Indian Anglican community has stepped forward for this
election from our diocese. I see this as a critical opportunity to:
Give Voice at the National Level: Bring the authentic lived experiences of Pakistani, Indian, and
broader UKME Anglicans directly to the national assembly.
Strengthen Diocesan Witness: Demonstrate that the Diocese of Liverpool is a forward-looking
Church reflecting the full breadth of the communities it serves.
Build Lasting Belonging: Help others overcome the structural and cultural barriers that hold them back
from feeling a true sense of belonging in our Church.
I am standing not merely to represent one specific background, but as a dedicated servant of the
whole Church. Diversity is a gift from God; when we walk together in unity, our witness to the
transforming love of Jesus Christ becomes far stronger.

Key Priorities if Elected
If elected to General Synod, I will prayerfully focus on four key areas:
Unity Across Diversity: Promoting deep, gospel-rooted unity among all our diverse fellowships as one
body in Christ.
Empowering UKME Communities: Strengthening the representation, leadership pathways, and active
participation of minority ethnic congregations.
Mission & Church Growth: Drawing on practical church planting experience to advocate for
evangelism, discipleship, and intercultural community outreach.
Faithful Diocesan Advocacy: Serving the Diocese of Liverpool with dedication, contributing
constructively to national debates while staying firmly rooted in Scripture.
Commitment to the Diocese
I stand for a Church that is confident in its Anglican identity, grounded in Scripture, generous in
fellowship, and active in mission. If given the honor of serving on General Synod, I will serve with
prayerful integrity, seeking the good of the entire Church and working to ensure the Diocese of
Liverpool remains known as a place that welcomes all, values all, and serves all in the name of Jesus
Christ.
