As a lay leader for the local parish church, I am very familiar with the inner
workings of both the local and national church. As a 16 year old I was co-
opted onto my church’s PCC having emphasised the need for the governance
side of things to be heard and commented on by a young person’s voice. From a
young age, therefore, I have been passionate about every voice being heard and
the difference churches can make to both individuals, communities and the
nation.
I care deeply about the parish system. Having a presence in every community,
the Parish system is a precious gem where communities and individuals can
be prayed for and ministered to. I believe we should be investing in our parish
system making it more sustainable in areas where resources are stretched to
ensure that in all corners of our nation the good news of Jesus can be
proclaimed and the church can be guided by God to join in with the work He is
already doing.
Leading a church with my husband has shaped my heart for the deprived
areas of our nation. Our parish contains the third and ﬁfth poorest areas of the
country but my eyes are regularly opened to the richness of the community we
live and serve in. People within areas such as the place I have the privilege of
calling home are so often seen as the problem but the reality is the problem is
often the conditions. I believe there are hidden gems of people in all of our
communities who God is calling to raise up and the church has a responsibility
to resource those people and the churches in those areas to do this more
effectively.

I believe whole heartedly that the church is called to be a prophetic voice to
the world but I am aware that so often the deep divisions within can cause us
to feel overwhelmed. I am not naive about the weight of responsibility this role
holds. I believe I am called to serve on General Synod to help create unity,
emphasising that church is a place where everyone is welcomed, loved and
valued. I hold an orthodox view on God’s design for marriage and feel a
responsibility to engage in the LLF conversation in a way that respects the
voices of those which differs to my own.
If elected, I will seek to represent all laity, and I commit to being available to my
electors and providing feedback where requested.
