GENERAL SYNOD ELECTIONS 2026

Dear Synod Member
I would be honoured to represent you on General Synod. I am standing to champion a welcoming, inclusive
Church of England; properly resourced parishes which serve their communities; excellent, consistent
safeguarding; and strong governance with sound financial stewardship. I would bring commitment,
experience, and integrity to this role, and would be grateful for your first or high-preference vote.

As your Synod member, I will work for:
The Church of England being for everyone who wishes to profess faith in Jesus Christ. I will work for a
simpler, humbler, more inclusive, safer, and more united Church that challenges unjust and unfair practices.
I will also strive for a Church centred on Jesus Christ, shaped by the five marks of mission, outward-looking
and relevant to all who live in this country.
Ensuring parishes have the resources they need to fulfil their mission: making Christ known and serving their
communities, especially in low-income neighbourhoods. I will also advocate for proper support for priests,
prioritising their wellbeing, and for volunteers to be encouraged and valued.
Making sure that safeguarding across the Church is consistent, effective, robust, and independently
accountable. I will advocate for improvements by encouraging, supporting, debating, and voting for changes
to safeguarding structures, processes, and accountability.

The promotion of strong, transparent governance and sound financial management by asking probing
questions, proposing reforms for discussion, and voting for improvements.

Who is Josile?
I was born and raised in London. I have a science degree, a professional qualification in consumer
protection and a postgraduate management qualification. In a previous role as service manager, I managed
a range of services and budgets. Presently, I lead a team responsible for consumer protection and business
regulation. I enjoy reading, keeping fit and travelling, and I have caring responsibilities.

This verse speaks powerfully to me of unity and acceptance, reminding us that everyone is welcome in
Christ, whatever their background. I am a member of Inclusive Church, attend London Diocese Cursillo
meetings, and support the aims of the Save the Parish network.

Experience I will draw on to represent you.
For more than 25 years, I have represented the concerns of lay people on synods, councils, and
committees. During my previous time as the Lay Chair of Hackney Deanery, I visited parishes in the Deanery
with the Area Dean to encourage parishes to develop their mission action plans. As a PCC member, I chaired
the PCC through two interregnums and helped to successfully interview two excellent incumbents. I am
now the PCC lay vice-chair and chair its safeguarding and finance working groups.
Currently I am the Stepney Area Council lay vice chair, and a member of the Area Finance Group. I serve on
the Diocesan Bishop’s Council, and the Diocesan Finance Committee. My wider church and charitable
experience have included serving as an examining chaplain to discern vocations, chairing the Board of
Patronage, and acting as a trustee for charities which include Whitelands College, Roehampton University
and the North Thames Ministerial Training Course. Presently I am a trustee of the Corporation of Church
House, where I am the trustee lead for equality and safeguarding.
I have represented you as a General Synod member for more than 10 years. As a member I have made
speeches, contributed to debates, chaired a revision committee which facilitated legislation that improved
the work of the church and served on the Mission and Public Affairs Council (2016-2021).
As a Synod member, I have listened to and worked with representatives from different church traditions,
helping to reach sound decisions guided by the Holy Spirit.

I worship at Trinity Saints, a parish serving a low-
income community. I am actively involved in worship
as a lay deacon and parish sacristan. As head server, I
train and coordinate a diverse team of servers of all
ages and organise communion assistants for services.
My favourite Bible verse is Galatians 3:28–29: “There
is no longer Jew or Greek, slave or free, male and
female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.”
