I’ve been involved in prayer and spirituality
work in the diocese for many years. Before
ordination, I was Director of Katherine
House, a prayer and spirituality centre
owned by Roman Catholic Sisters and
visited by a wide variety of people.
I’m a former Churchwarden and familiar
with the responsibilities, pressures and
delights faced by these amazing volunteers.
I worked for many years with the Jesuits, a
Roman Catholic order, facilitating a gap year
for young people who worked with various
charities with marginalised people in Britain
I’ve lived in the diocese since 2006.
Yes, I’m from the Northeast and have a
funny accent.
I’ve studied Theology all my adult life, I
didn’t stop when I graduated.
I love a lecture and a chance to engage with
new ideas.

I'm from a working-class background – I grew up in Durham coalfields
during the miner's strike – and would love to see a church that reaches
across class divides and sees more people from backgrounds like mine in
ministry. I have some sense of the practical and cultural barriers to that
from my own experience.
I'm a member of Church Action on Poverty's worship and theology
collective and have written liturgy for their resources.
My parish is one with very high levels of poverty, and my vision of church is
one that challenges issues of social and economic justice.
I long for and pray for a church which celebrates and affirms every person.
I have worshipped with Open Table and preached at their services.
Open Table is a network of communities which genuinely welcome, affirm,
include and empower people who are: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer
or Questioning, Intersex, & Asexual (LGBTQIA)+ their families, friends &
anyone who wants to belong in an accepting, loving community.
I will always continue to challenge the church where it fails to welcome
based on grounds of disability, economic power, ethnicity, gender, gender
identity, learning disability, mental health, neurodiversity, or sexuality. I
believe this is an issue that hurts the heart of God and damages our
integrity when we reach out to our communities.
I have an interest in teaching Prayer and Spirituality and have led many
courses on it, including training ALMs.
My own prayer life has been influenced by Ignatian Spirituality and its focus
on contemplative prayer and discernment. My prayer life drives and fuels
my ministry and decisions.
I'm Rector of two beautiful old churches, one Grade 1 listed with a massive
graveyard, in an area where we are not blessed with a great deal of money.
I would like for that for to be easier in terms of paperwork and funding.
I'm loving being a parish priest and I would love to see our clergy free to
spend more time baptising babies, blessing schoolbags, litter-picking,
visiting the grieving, administering the sacraments and being a blessing to
our communities.
I am standing for General Synod for the first time. What I would lack in
experience, I would make up for in enthusiasm and commitment. If you
know me, you know I'm a person of integrity who takes her responsibilities
seriously; and if you don't know me, you have to take my word for it!
I'm fairly clear about what I believe in and I stand by it; however I have a
strong history of working well with those whose views I don't share.
