Hello, I’m David…
I was born into a Vicarage, and now see my
childhood living itself out again in our son James -
he knows parishioners as friends! As a teenager, I
came to an understanding of what Jesus Christ has
done for the world, and for me, and that He wants
me to do something with my life, my energy and
whatever talents I’ve been given, to serve, love and
worship.
I love being a parish priest - its diversity, the
unexpected, the challenges of buildings and
growing congregations. I love baptism, wedding and
funeral ministry. I love finding new (and not so new)
ways to reach out, to serve and to draw folk into the
mystery at the heart of our faith. I love being a
Training Incumbent and a Rural Dean, and all the
opportunities these roles bring along.

What can I bring?
• I’m affirming, inclusive,

• an absolute commitment to
robust safeguarding at every
level and ensuring it is fully
resourced across the Church
• celebration of the breadth,
depth and life of the Church
of England serving every
community, chaplaincy and
school
• a desire to grow the life of
every part of the Church
• a belief that the Parish is the
basis of our life together
• a belief the Church’s
resources should be used to
serve parishes and their
clergy, not initiatives which
compete and distract from
mission
• commitment to Eco-church
and care for creation
• a will to see more people
serving in a variety of
ministries in every parish
• a desire to grow our
baptism, wedding and
funeral outreach to our
communities
I believe that God loves us all in our diversity and
our messiness. I am an Anglican in love with our
mission to the nation and our communities, a
catholic Anglican in love with the tradition that
enlivens and inspires, an inclusive Anglican who
believes all are called, all are loved and all must be
celebrated as God made them.
I long to serve in a Church which is safe for all,
simple and confident in its devotion to mission,
humble about where things need to change, and
bold about using what we have for the mission of
the whole Church - I believe we should invest in
excellent training for clergy and lay leaders, in
keeping priests in parishes and in resourcing
parishes to do what they do best.
I long to serve in a Church that prays, preaches and
works for the communities we serve, where they are,
and as they are. We need to be where God’s people
are, to worship with them, and to offer the Good
News of life in all it’s abundance (John 10.10).
