Karen Fairfax-Cholmeley
I have lived and worshipped in Oxfordshire for the last 51 years, taking an active role in
my local church over the years as Deanery Synod representative, PCC member, Sunday
school teacher and director of the children’s Christmas Nativity play. I have a keen
interest in social justice and feel that the church has an important role to speak truth to
power as we face current economic, social, environmental and political challenges. My
background is in intergenerational and community education, working across different
communities, cultures and religions. I have substantial experience as a board member
of schools and charities, including as chair and understand the importance of listening
to other people’s views while keeping clear aims in view. I am very interested to join
General Synod now as the church faces the task of bringing the logic of God’s love to a
central position in meeting the challenges of today.
