WHO AM I?
I grew up in a Christian family - my father was a vicar – and have believed in God for as long as I
can remember, but I had a life changing encounter with Jesus in my last term at school. It was
shortly after this, that I first heard God’s call to mission.
I have been married to Reiner, who is Austrian, for 30 years, and we have 4 adult sons. We
moved from south London to north Dorset just before Covid. Since 2012, I have worked in
secondary schools, helping teenagers with Special Educational Needs.

WHY I AM STANDING FOR GENERAL SYNOD
I want to see the Church of England as a place where, in every parish, people of all ages,
abilities, backgrounds and beliefs can hear the Gospel, encounter Jesus and be equipped to
grow in their relationship with Him. I believe in the authority of the Bible as the inspired word of
God and this underpins my ethical & theological understanding.
I love the Salisbury diocese slogan ‘Making Jesus Known’; these are 3 areas I am keen to impact
and questions I would like General Synod to address.

•
Making Jesus known to children & young people. Through parenting and teaching I see
the enormous pressures the younger generations are exposed to in our digital age, with
the alarming rise in mental health issues. I have also seen the difference that Jesus
makes in young people’s lives and the hope and peace He brings. How do we pass the
baton on to the next generation and effectively reach and disciple young people?
•
Making Jesus known in rural communities. How do we, in rural areas, with ageing
populations and limited resources, often with one clergy member looking after multiple
parishes, make Jesus known? How do we reduce clergy burn-out and ensure mission?
How do we equip our churches for renewal and revitalisation?

•
Making Jesus known in a secular and multi-cultural context. How do we hold firmly
to the word of life and spread the good news of Jesus in the context of societal changes,
growing secularisation, challenges to the sanctity of life, and the cultural relativization of
truth?

EXPERIENCE
•
After school, I studied Land Management at Reading University, where I served in the
Christian Union and Campus Crusade for Christ.
•
On graduating I moved to London, qualifying and working as a Chartered Surveyor. In
this time, I worshipped at Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB) and was very involved with the
Alpha course and various other aspects of Christian service.
•
In 1991, wanting to test the call to mission, I went to Zimbabwe and served in 4 rural
mission stations. I then worked at HTB before going to All Nations Christian College to
study Biblical, Missiological & Cross-Cultural Studies.
•
Following this, the door that opened was to work as a Religious Studies teacher and
assistant housemistress in a girls’ boarding school. I loved the mixture of teaching and
pastoral work.
•
After marrying Reiner and returning to London, I studied for an MA in Christian Ethics at
Kings College, London. Our first son was born shortly after completing this, and our 3
younger sons were born over the next 7 years.
•
On learning that dyslexia runs heavily in our family; to help our children, I retrained in
dyslexia and literacy. It was through this that I began working in secondary school
Special Educational Needs, initially in London, latterly in Dorset.
•
Over the years, I have been involved with numerous evangelistic initiatives, including
Alpha, youth camps and street evangelism. Through my Austrian husband, I have helped
support church renewal initiatives in Austria, leading various prayer and bible teaching
weekends. I help with school Christian groups and am involved in initiatives to reach our
village with the gospel.
•
I am a trustee of Gafcon Europe, a Churchwarden of St Gregory’s Marnhull, a member of
the Blackmore Vale Deanery Synod, I like to pray, and I support ‘Save the Parish’.

MY COMMITMENT TO YOU:
If elected, I commit myself to:

Prayerfully investing time and effort in understanding issues, seeking the Lord as to how
to contribute and vote.
•
Being faithful in service, upholding and safeguarding the truth of Scripture, seeking to
ensure that we reach out with the Gospel and make Jesus known in our parishes.
•
Making myself available to listen to and communicate with all members of the Diocese.
