About Me
I have lived in St Alban’s Diocese for 25 years, ministering in parishes in both Hertfordshire and
Bedfordshire, currently serving as Vicar of St Andrew’s, Bedford. These experiences mean that I
understand the reality of parish ministry on the ground, its joys and its significant challenges. My
husband, Anthony, is also ordained, and we have three children in their twenties, whose visits home
are primarily to see the family dogs. Before ordination, I taught Geography in comprehensive schools.

Holding Theological Difference
I was honoured that clergy from across the theological spectrum gave me their
vote in the 2024 election. The work of Synod is diminished if we allow our
differences to stand in the way of God’s mission. I am experienced in holding
difference well at a national level, not least through my membership of the
Standing Commission on the 5 Guiding Principles; mutual flourishing should
apply to all aspects of Church life if we are truly to be the Body of Christ.
Whilst being transparent about my own theological position, I aim always to
speak graciously, and listen deeply, continuing to expand my understanding
of differing views. My contributions to debates have borne these hallmarks.

and work constructively with people across the Church to serve Christ's mission.

Parish Mission and
Ministry
The Church’s priorities only matter if they help
real communities to encounter Christ and
flourish. Parish ministry has taught me both the
joy and complexity of mission: the importance
of listening to communities and working
collaboratively to serve the Gospel.

Young People and
Faith
Faith has so much to offer our young people as
they navigate a complex and difficult world. As
a Church we need to find ways to encourage
and nurture the spirituality of young people,
not because they are the Church of the future
but because they deserve to know the
presence of Christ in their lives today.

Diversity and
Inclusion
Enabling the Church to recognise and release
the gifts God has given to all people regardless
of gender, ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity,
class or sexuality has long been part of my
vocation. This is not merely about welcoming,
but dismantling barriers, to facilitate the
fullness of contribution.

Safeguarding
The ways in which the Church protects those
who are most vulnerable, and prevents the
misuse of power, speaks of the nature of God.
From my teaching background, I am aware that
whilst progress has been made, General
Synod still has work to do in making our
churches as safe as they can be, and ensuring
the voices of victims and survivors are heard.

Environment
Care for creation is an integral part of Christian
discipleship. The climate and ecological crisis
is both a moral and practical challenge, and
the Church should be at the forefront of
