General Synod Election Candidates 2026

After much prayer I am standing again to be a member of General Synod. For
the last five years I have served as Global Majority Heritage (GMH) Co-
Option on the General Synod making a contribution to the life of our
national church.
As a member of General Synod I have been fortunate enough to speak into a
number of debates including recent motions concerning Working Class
Vocations and Neurodiversity in the life of the church. I have also raised
questions on various matters, recently around what benefit the Net-Zero
commitments are having on clergy housing.
Behind the scenes I have been exploring ways to make General Synod more
accessible to the wider Church of England and especially to neurodiverse
members.
I currently serve on two sub-committees of the General Synod. Firstly in the Advisory Group for the Terms
and Wellbeing of Ministers, a committee focused on clergy wellbeing which highlighted issues and
concerns relating to financial wellbeing as part of the considerations around reviewing stipend levels.
Secondly the recently established Clergy Retirement Dignity and Fairness Group, established to
enquire as to what is needed to ensure clergy and their dependants are supported in retirement.
Independently I have negotiated with Better, a national gym and health chain, to offer a discount on
membership to stipendiary clergy nationally as part of my passion for clergy wellbeing.
Churchmanship
By God’s grace I have a wide experience of the Church of England. I
spent my early years in a simple Anglo-Catholic church where I grew to
love the richness and the beauty of a liturgical tradition, alongside the
reverence of Communion.
In my early teens I had some experience in a more central, open church
tradition, before joining a lively charismatic evangelical church.
Though labels are not always helpful, if asked I would say that I am an
Anglican Evangelical with a deep love and affection for the history and
richness of the Church of England. I enjoy the language, space and
reverence often found in a more liturgical service, as well as the vibrancy
of a more “contemporary” service.
Brief Bio and Experience
Born of a Hindu Indo-Mauritian father, and a Christian white British
mother, I was raised by working class parents in highly deprived area of
Kent. My wife is of mixed Filipino and Indo-Mauritian heritage and this
year we celebrate 17 years of marriage. Together we have two
secondary school aged children.
I bring a decade of experience in the secular workplace including
restaurant management, travel and financial services recruitment.
I have been in ordained ministry for over a decade all in Southwark in
the Croydon and Kingston Episcopal areas, serving in large and small
churches including Fresh Expressions and Estates ministry.
I have been a member of Diocesan Synod for most of that time, and
serve as an Area Director of IME. In October I begin additional training
as Pastoral Supervisor in order to better serve and support local clergy.
Areas of Interest
My great focus is sharing the
love of our Lord Jesus with the
people of this nation.
As the solo-minister of a small
to medium sized congregation
in a working class area, I am
keen to give a voice to the
majority of those who serve in
our Diocese and in this Church:
the hardworking clergy who
graft in under-resourced and
under-financed parishes.
I come from a working class
background,
have
mixed
heritage
and
have
been
diagnosed with ADHD. All
three have been areas of key
focus in at the close of this
quinquennium and I imagine
will be given priority in the
next.
My overall passion is for clergy
wellbeing and working at a
national level to put in place
systems and resources that
enable clergy to thrive in
ministry.
