About me

When | was 18, | gave my life to Jesus on the floor of
my bedroom just outside Truro. Returning to
Cornwall four years ago felt like coming home. |
came with a conviction that God was calling me to
invest my working life in the Diocese of Truro,
serving this land for the long term. At 40, | hope to
serve the Diocese of Truro for many years to come.

lam married to Ben Hyde, a Devon lad (but don’t hold it against him), and we
have a black labrador called Caledonian (Cally) who loves to dig up the Cornish
beaches.

Although | trained as a primary school teacher, | ended up serving as a church
youth worker for eight years before succumbing to the call to get ordained. |
carry a deep passion for young people and love to see them embedded in the
ife of the local church.

A passion for mission and vocation

n March 2023, | started St Gregory’s Church in the Pydar Deanery. Watching
people come to faith, grow as disciples and discover their vocation has been
one of the greatest privileges of my ministry. This summer alone, we have
baptised seven adults and a teenager; two members have been ordained, two
more will begin ordination training in September, and three are currently in
discernment

also have a longstanding commitment to the persecuted Church and support
the work of Open Doors.

Why General Synod?

General Synod needs representatives rooted in local church ministry,
committed to evangelism, and able to work graciously across differing
convictions. | would be honoured to represent the clergy of Truro and to ensure
the experience of church life continues to shape national decision-making.

Since arriving in the Diocese, | have been an active member of Pydar DIT and
Deanery Synod. This has included serving on a steering committee to help
establish a Christians Against Poverty debt centre, which now works across the
deanery. | have also served and worked with the wider diocese through co-
option to the Vacancy in See Committee; election to the Crown Nominations
Commission for our diocesan bishop; membership of the Bishop's Advisory

Group for Bishop James Treasure's appointment; close working with the
Diocesan Safeguarding team; and service as a school governor.

These experiences have given me insight into both diocesan and national
church life, and into the importance of wise, prayerful decision-making.

If elected, | will seek to:

e faithfully represent the clergy of the Diocese of Truro

e listen carefully to those with differing perspectives

¢ communicate openly about the work of Synod

e contribute thoughtfully and constructively to debate

e support the Church in evangelism, discipleship and the raising up of
future priests

e encourage the flourishing of clergy, parishes and younger generations
across our diocese
