General Synod Election Address for Robin Lunn.

I am writing to appeal for your support once again to represent you as a Lay Member of the General
Synod for the diocese of Worcester in the current election.

It has been a real honor to represent all parts of the diocese in the last 22 years while living in
Inkberrow and working in Kidderminster, and it is something I have tried to always do in a
conscientious and enthusiastic manner.

What I have done Previously.

Represent the diocese on General Synod since 2004 which has provided considerable

knowledge of how Synod works and getting things done by building alliances with other
members. How I have voted in that time is a matter of public record, particularly in favour of
the Living in Love and Faith (LLF) legislation.

In the last 5 years asked 19 questions on subjects as diverse as Church Buildings, Estates

Ministry, and developing rural ministry. (You are only allowed 2 Questions per session).

Moved an amendment to prevent burial fees being arbitrarily increased by £1000, which

contributed to the policy being thrown out last February 2026.

After considerable feedback from Deanery Synod members and PCC’s, spoke in the debate in

February 2025, to make Safeguarding totally independent of the National Church.

Manifestly not been a “Single Issue” candidate and contributed to debates on a wide range of

subjects from Clergy Pension provision to relations with the Methodists, energy conservation
and Food Bank provision to name but 4. Synod members should represent views across a
wide range of subjects.

A very important part of a Synod members role.
I voted in support in my early years on Synod of the Woman in the Episcopacy legislation

between 2005 and 2014. I have only missed 3 days of Synod since 2005.

Having set out what I have done previously, I would like to set out what I wish to do if re-elected over
the next 5 years.

What I pledge to do moving forward.

Argue to keep the Church relevant in the modern world without sacrificing key principles of

our beliefs.

To fully support a Church where every person is valued and loved, where people of every age,

gender, sexuality, ethnicity, disability and neuro diversity are equal in the eyes of God. As an
example to ensure that the prayers and agreed service of LLF can be used in stand alone
services to value all relationships.

To represent and breathe new life into our Covenant and relations with the Methodist Church.
To continue to report back to all members of the Diocese of Worcester by email and written

reports as I have faithfully done over 20 years.

To continue to consult with Church Members and Deaneries to inform the positions I should

represent at Synod Meetings, as I have done in the last 18 months with national and local
Safeguarding and Burial Fees.

Continue to push for the Church to move to Net Zero as soon as possible, but to ensure that

the national Church assists Parishes in this vitally important subject with financial assistance.

To fight to preserve Parish Ministry in its current form while keeping the health physical and

mental of all clergy uppermost in mind. This includes capping the amount of Churches one
Priest can oversee.

The Church of England faces a real fight to be and stay relevant while proclaiming the word and
message of Jesus to the people of England. To help achieve this challenge, we need General Synod
and its members to be adaptable, faithful and fully inclusive to ALL people without excluding any.

A Church looking inward, can only wither and die. A Church looking outward, spreading the word
and being inclusive can still flourish. With your support and prayers, I can give my very best to make
this happen.

Biography.

I am 58 years of age and have lived and worked in the Diocese of Worcester for over 33 years. I
worship at St Peters Inkberrow.

In addition to 22 years of service on the General Synod, I have served on the Diocesan Synod since
2003 and the Bishops Council at different points since 2012.

Am currently Lay Chair of Evesham and Pershore Deanery and have been a member of Inkberrow
PCC since 1997.

When not involved with the matters of the Church of England, I run a business in Kidderminster and
enjoy watching all sports, particularly cricket at New Road when time allows.
